The Mount community gathered on Thursday morning for the annual Tree Blessing Liturgy in Immaculate Conception Chapel where seniors hung their beautifully-crafted snowflake and angel ornaments on the tree, which was blessed by Bishop James F. Checchio of the Diocese of Metuchen.
The Liturgy began with a welcome to grandparents from S. Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress. She said, "We thank you for providing the footsteps for this generation. Some of the best educators in the world are grandparents who provide wisdom for their grandchildren - and give them the knowledge of your experience of living life - a perspective they can only get from you. We hope that the Mount will continue to influence and mold your wonderful granddaughters into strong, caring, and merciful women."
Bishop Checchio was accompanied by Deacon Peter D'Angelo and Master of Ceremonies, Reverend Roy Quesea, JCL. Before the presentation of gifts, the bishop blessed the grandparents of juniors and seniors in attendance. Flowers were also presented to the Blessed Mother in memory of our beloved grandparents who have entered eternal life.
The seniors' ornaments were created by members of the National Art Honor Society.
The grandparents were treated to a tea in the Sister Lisa Gambacorto Theater following the liturgy where they enjoyed treats and made memories with their granddaughters. Thank you to the Mount Advancement Cabinet and all of the volunteers and to those who made donations for a special event.
